Earl Hanson

"Home of the Hawks"

Earl Hanson is a neighborhood school located in the southwest corner of of Rock Island, very near the Rock Island-Milan border. It is home to approximately 400 students in pre-K through sixth grade. The school houses 13 multi-age regular education classrooms in addition to a variety of District special programs that include: two Headstart classes, two Early Developmental Resource classes, four multi-categorical special education self-contained classrooms, and two gifted self-contained classes. Students in self-contained classes are integrated into regular classrooms throughout the school day. Earl Hanson has a very diverse student enrollment; its boundaries bring together students at the two socioeconomic poles. The divergent education level and social background of parents and students contribute to the cultural diversity of our student population. Combining these populations makes Earl Hanson a very complex and unique school with the need to offer a broad range of educational opportunities and services.

Earl Hanson has an experienced and dedicated teaching staff that is striving to develop a comprehensive educational program that will meet the diverse needs of its student population.
