ROCK ISLAND-MILAN SCHOOL DISTRICT 41 BOARD OF EDUCATION SPECIAL MEETING July 31, 2002
The special meeting of the Board of Education of the Rock Island-Milan School District was held Wednesday 31, 2002 in the Library at Rock Island High School. The meeting was called to order at 7:35 a.m. Roll Call Members Present: Ms. Elma "Mooch" Gay, Mr. Steve Clark, Mr. Bill Cleaver, Ms. Linda Dothard, Mr. Jim Gremanis, and Ms. Sue McDevittStaff Present: Dr. Dave Markward and Mr. Mike Oberhaus Operations ö Board Vacancy Board members discussed the process and timeline to fill the vacancy created by resignation of Rev. Lance Chaney from the Board on July 23, 2002. A motion was made by Mr. Jim Gremanis and seconded by Ms. Linda Dothard to correct the wording in Bylaw 0142.5 ö Vacancies to read 45 days instead of 30 days to fill the vacancy. A voice vote was called showing all members present voting "Aye." No "Nay" votes being cast, the President declared the motion carried. A motion was made by Mr. Jim Gremanis and seconded by Ms. Linda Dothard to amend the above motion to include a correction to Bylaw 0142.3 Term to read April instead of November. A voice vote was called showing all members present voting "Aye." No "Nay" votes being cast, the President declared the motion carried. Board members established the following timeline for filling the vacancy: August 1-14, 2002 Accept applications (7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.) August 15, 2002 Applications copied and delivered to Board members August 20, 2002 Special Board Meeting to determine applicants to be interviewed August 20-21, 2002 President Gay calls applicants to establish interviews August 28, 2002 Board interviews candidates beginning at 4:00 p.m. in Conference Room 23 at the Administration Center August 30, 2002 Board holds special meeting to approve appointment of new Board member at 7:30 a.m. in the Superintendentâs Office September 10, 2002 Newly appointed Board member is seated Adjournment A motion was made by Mr. Jim Gremanis and seconded by Ms. Sue McDevitt to adjourn the special meeting. All members present voting "Aye," the President declared the meeting adjourned at 8:00 a.m.
