A message from Dr. Dave Markward, superintendent of schools:
I believe it is our responsibility as educators to explore strategies, programs, schedules, and calendars that have a reasonable promise of improving the learning opportunities of our students. In reviewing research and speaking to individuals in schools utilizing calendars with periodic intersession breaks and reduced summer vacation time, I find many learning advantages.
